ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION / NOT AN APPROVAL
01 / THE ROLE, CLEARLY DEFINED
An employer identification number, or EIN, is a federal tax identification number issued by the IRS. It does not form an entity, grant a license or approve a bank account. The IRS issues EINs free; an assistance fee, if selected, is a separate charge for service.
IRS: EIN issuance and online eligibilityVoda’s company setup services are separate from its high-risk merchant account placement for hard-to-place and non-traditional businesses. Formation, banking and processing reviews have their own requirements.
For an LLC or corporation, complete state formation first. Keep the accepted entity name available for the next application.
Name the qualified responsible party. A temporary nominee is not a replacement for the person who actually controls the entity.
Online eligibility is limited. Review the current IRS instructions to determine whether an alternative application method is needed.
Retain the IRS confirmation and use the details consistently. Banking, licensing and payment reviews remain separate steps.
