A BUSINESS BEGINS WITH A FEW IMPORTANT DECISIONS

A structure for the idea.
A plan for what follows.

Company formation establishes the legal structure of a business under the applicable rules. The choice shapes ownership, governance, responsibilities and tax questions. A filing is one milestone; the working setup may also need identification, registrations, records and separate banking or payment arrangements.

IRS · Business structures

Voda’s formation collection is a separate starting point for business setup. Voda also helps hard-to-place and non-traditional businesses explore high-risk merchant account placement when they are ready to discuss payments.

THE POSSIBILITY ATLAS / AN IDEA FINDS ITS WAYSkip the story
  1. ACT 01 / IDEA

    Start with the idea.

Describe the business you want to build, who will own it and where the work will happen. The right conversation begins there.

  2. ACT 02 / STRUCTURE

    Explore the structure.

Compare entity options and tax questions with qualified advisers. A trading name and a tax election are not substitutes for choosing the legal structure.

  3. ACT 03 / SUPPORT

    Build the supporting plan.

Bring identification, agent, address and recurring filing needs into view. Confirm what each service includes before beginning.

  4. ACT 04 / NEXT CHAPTER

    Make the next chapter practical.

Plan banking and payment acceptance as separate reviews. Coordinate the handoffs while keeping responsibilities and provider decisions clear.

What company formation services can I explore with Voda?

Explore LLC, corporation and nonprofit formation, plus sole proprietor setup. The collection also covers international owners, trading names and support such as agent, EIN, recurring filing and expansion services. Confirm the scope and state coverage before ordering.

How do I choose between an LLC and a corporation?

Review ownership, management, financing plans, legal exposure and tax circumstances with qualified advisers. An LLC and a corporation have different legal and governance features. There is no universal choice for every founder.

Is an S corporation formed through a separate state process?

S status generally refers to a federal tax election for an eligible entity. State formation and the tax election are separate steps. Eligibility, timing and state treatment require their own review.

Does registering a DBA create a company?

No. A DBA is another name used by an existing person or entity, where permitted or required. It does not create an LLC or corporation or add separate liability protection.

Does nonprofit incorporation automatically make donations deductible?

No. State nonprofit formation and federal tax-exempt recognition are separate. Donation deductibility depends on the organization, the contribution and the applicable rules.

Can a non-US resident form a US company?

Many US entities permit non-US ownership, subject to restrictions and the owner’s circumstances. Cross-border tax, documentation, banking and immigration questions should be reviewed separately.

What does formation cost, and how long will it take?

State, entity type, filing method and selected assistance affect cost and timing. Ask for an itemized scope separating government fees, service charges and ongoing costs. No universal approval or processing time is promised.

Does formation include a bank or merchant account?

No account approval is automatic. Voda can discuss bank application support and merchant account placement, but each institution or provider decides eligibility, documentation and terms.

Where do I start if I already formed my company?

Use the existing-company guide above to explore recurring reports, registered agent support, a DBA or foreign qualification. For payment acceptance, explain your existing entity and processing arrangements rather than forming another company by default.
